Snapchat To Air New Animated Show ‘Highly Gifted’ From Lehrer Boys
1 min readAnimators Daniel and Jeremy Lehrer are launching a new series exclusively for Snapchat’s Discover feature today. The series, which will be called ‘Highly Gifted’ follows Dave, a “social flea” who is trying to improve his status at Roosevelt High. The show will run for 10 episodes and each episode will be around 3-4 minutes long. I checked out the first episode, and it was actually pretty funny.
Jeremy and Daniel Lehrer (The Lehrer Boys) are identical twins, comedy writers, and
cartoonists who grew up in a large family in Los Angeles where the emphasis was on academic excellence, classical music, fine art, and other activities designed not to get them laid. They created and produced “Highly Gifted” as a semi-autobiographical show based on their years in highly gifted programs, where they existed in a precarious intellectual bubble within the larger school – an exotic and forbidden world, where people went on dates, attended sporting events, partied, and engaged in other mysterious social rites and ceremonies.
‘Highly Gifted’ also sports a pretty stellar cast spread across different episodes. The very first episode stars Josh Brenner (Silicon Valley) as Dave, and follows him on a disastrous first date. The rest of the cast includes recording artist Kesha, comedian Ron Funches, and actor Drake Bell, all set to star in future episodes.
‘Highly Gifted’ begins airing on Snapchat today, and new episodes will air every Saturday! Check out the official teaser below:
