The First Trailer For ‘Joker’ Is Intense As Hell

There’s not been very much said about DC’s upcoming Joker movie featuring Joaquin Phoenix. Just a few hours ago, the first trailer dropped for it, and from the looks of things, this movie will be intense as hell. The entire vibe of the trailer is very dark, and ominous. It feels like watching someone slowly lose their mind right before your eyes. Most DC films look awesome when the trailers drop, but the movie itself always fall flat. This film already feels different, and I’m totally here for it.

Phoenix plays Arthur, a hard up man clinging to his sanity by a thread. The trailer features Arthur sharing some wisdom his mother imparted to him. His voice is the backdrop for a flashback (I’m assuming) to him caring for his elderly mother, laughing along while bathing her. From there, the trailer jumps to him in full clown makeup, twirling a sign until some children decide to ambush him and take it. From there, all hell breaks loose.

We see Arthur go through pretty much every emotion possible, all the while beginning his ascent into madness. This movie looks like it’s going to every bit as dark, and gritty as a proper Joker story should be. Serving as it’s own origin story for one of DC’s most notable characters, ‘Joker’ has already made one hell of an impression with comic fans. The first teaser trailer has amassed over 8 million views as of writing.
