WWE ’13 Official Trailer (Updated)

This past Monday, WWE unveiled CM Punk as it’s cover athlete for the upcoming wrestling sim, WWE ’13. One of my favorite titles from last year, WWE and THQ have upped the ante for this years game by including more action and less of the “scripted” backstage antics of last years version. Placing more emphasis in the ring definitely comes as no surprise, as one of the biggest negatives to WWE ’12 was the ‘Road To Wrestlemania’ mode. Road To Wrestlemania mode felt super clunky, and at times really took the focus off the in ring action which was arguably WWE 12’s biggest bright point. Having CM Punk on the cover definitely adds to the notion that WWE is going against the grain of what is usually expected of them. An Internet darling, Punk has ushered in an era of legitimacy back into the WWE at a time it needs it most. Punk managed to set the ‘wrasslin’ community on fire with his honest, cut throat promos and in ring ability to boot. If the trailer for WWE ’13 is any indication of what the actual gameplay is going to look like, I would definitely say that WWE and THQ have a sure shot winner on their hands. I for one can’t wait to see what the finished product looks like when it hits shelves this October.
