WWE Hall Of Famer Announced As ‘WWE 2K16’ Cover Athlete
2 min readIn what was originally planned to be revealed tonight during Monday Night Raw, WWE pulled the trigger on revealing exactly who would grace the cover of this years’ WWE 2K16. The honor goes to none other than WWE Hall Of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin, and it makes perfect sense as to why he was chosen.
Stone Cold was a massive part of arguably one of the best boom periods in WWE history, and ran hot for several years during that time. It’s been rumored that in addition to gracing the cover of 2K16 this year, the game will also have a pretty big feature on the Texas Rattlesnake, similar to last year’s 2K showcase mode. Seeing as how WWE owns a ton of video from both WCW and ECW (Austin’s homes before WWE) the sky’s the limit with how they’ll actually pull off his Showcase mode. Hopefully they include a chunk of Austin’s time spent in those territories, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. WWE 2K16 is also slated to launch with the largest in-game roster ever with over 120 unique character models available at launch. If 2K can pull that off, and somehow reinstate most of the game modes they left out of last year’s game, they could legitimately be ready to release one of the best wrestling games ever.
WWE 2K16 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 this October. Check out the hi-res cover below, along with the reveal video from YouTube!
