Zact, a brand new entrant into the Wireless Service Provider realm made its debut today, and from the sounds of things, they’re here to shake things up. Dubbing themselves a “Smart Mobile Service”, Zact promises to bring wireless subscribers a level of control like they’ve never seen before. They’ll accomplish this by completely eschewing the traditional wireless business model set by the larger carriers and moves into a new ‘pay for what you want’ structure instead. Don’t need texting? No problem, simply choose the amount of minutes you want along with data. Don’t want data or text, but like the look of the smartphones they offer? No problem pick a phone and a pool of minutes and you’re all set. On top of offering an a la cart wireless service, there is no contract required. With a 4G LTE, cloud based network, customers can expect top of the line features, along with some cutting edge devices from launch. Zact will be powered by Sprint’s nationwide network, and devices will be capable of 4G LTE where available.

Based on Nielsen research, Zact found that the average US consumer is paying about $93 per month for wireless services, all while using around 650 minutes, 500MB of data, and 760 texts. From there, they built a customizable wireless plan that would offer users the same features for around $31 a month. While the specifics of the wireless plans are still sketchy at this point, if these plans actually come to fruition, Zact could be a tremendous game changer in the wireless space.

Zact CEO Greg Raleigh went on to say “Our goal is to give mobile consumers freedom, flexibility, and control of their wireless service right from their device. With Zact, you get exactly what you want, and you never have to pay more than what you need due to our Never Overpay Guarantee. It’s the ultimate unplan.”

Zact will initially offer two devices at launch, the LG Viper 4G LTE and the LG Optimus Elite. Pricing on the devices will be unsubsidized, and they will set you back $399 or $199 respectively. Phones can be preordered beginning today, and will ship out starting in June.
