The First Trailer For Netflix’s ‘Tekken’ Anime Series Is Here

Netflix’s anime series based on the popular fighting franchise ‘Tekken,’ dropped its first official trailer. The series will follow franchise favorite Jin Kazama and his journey to the King Of The Iron Fist Tournament. Tekken was one of the biggest fighting franchises in the late ’90s and early 2000s. The franchise sold over 53 million total copies and currently sits as the second best-selling fighting game of all time.

Creating a faithful adaptation of a fan-favorite franchise can get a bit tricky. Such was the case with ‘Tekken: The Motion Picture’ which debuted all the way back in 1998, and a live-action film in 2009. The animated feature received a lukewarm reception, while the live-action film was widely panned. There haven’t been any attempts at a Tekken project ever since.

Netflix looks to build on the popularity of the largely dormant franchise with a refreshed look into the Tekken story. There’s no further info on the storyline or any episode counts, but we do know the series will debut sometime this year. In the meantime, check out the official trailer above!
