Elon Musk Is Now The Second Richest Person In The World

Ah… To be filthy rich. Elon Musk has officially passed Bill Gates and is now the second richest person in the world. Musk is second only to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, but he could give him a run for his (literal) money should his companies keep performing as well as they are. According to the new Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk now has a total net worth of around $128 Billion.

Musk’s worth shot up massively this year, as he accumulated over $100 Billion in 2020. The growth was largely spurred on by a rapid increase in Tesla’s market share as it rose from just under $100 Billion to over $500 Billion as of writing. Tesla has been a gargantuan success for Musk, as it boasts the single largest profit margin of any car manufacturer in the world.

Bill Gates is now number three on the Bloomberg list, followed by French businessman Bernard Arnault, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg rounding out the top five.
