Five Things I Learned From Wrestlemania

KofiMania Runs Wild

During the WWE Championship match, one thing was clear: Kofi Kingston was the new Daniel Bryan. The crowd was so firmly behind Kofi, and their faith never wavered. Kofi once again turned in an excellent performance against Daniel Bryan, and showed why he truly deserved this spot. The story behind Kofi’s ascent to the World title couldn’t have been told any better. An 11-year journey served as the backdrop of this narrative about “people like him” never getting any real opportunities. Meanwhile, as a team, The New Day has easily been one of the hottest acts within WWE over the last few years. With their combined talent, new found popularity within the WWE universe, and their merch sales, it made perfect sense for them to be sitting atop the food chain. For some reason they were mostly relegated to tag team competition despite all three men being accomplished singles competitors as well. Now, we can look forward to seeing if they’ll invoke the Freebird rule when it comes to defending the WWE title. I for one am very high on the idea of keeping New Day together, but I can also see the value of splitting them up around the WWE Championship. That too, could be a really fun feud.
