Fans of the Star Wars franchise have not had kind words for the director of Episode 8, Rian Johnson. People have been blogging, and tweeting at him about how they absolutely despised the ending of ‘The Last Jedi’. Many feel that the ending was a cop-out, while others are claiming the method used was a complete sham. Rian took to Twitter to school his detractors in the most Jedi way possible. For those not in the know, Luke Skywalker appears at the last-minute to help salvage a resistance escape. Buying just enough time for Poe, Finn, and Rey to board the Millennium Falcon and ride off into the sunset. The problem here is the big reveal that it wasn’t Skywalker himself, but rather a doppleganger projection, cast across the galaxy. That’s right, Luke pulled out his best Yoda impersonation and tricked Kylo Ren and the rest of the First Order into believing he was actually in their presence.

Fans immediately took to social media to complain about this “Force Projection.” Rian Johnson had gotten so many of these message, that he felt the need to respond. In an amazingly well crafted Twitter thread, Johnson schooled everyone in what could be best described as a ‘Jedi Mind Trick.’ In the thread, he shows a bookcase, and slowly pans towards it. From there he shows a book called ‘The Jedi Path’ and in it he goes to a section aptly titled “Advanced Force Techniques.”

The chapter details a technique passed down from master to apprentice, allowing them to do the exact thing Skywalker used to trick the first order. Boom. Mic Drop. Game, Set, Match. I throughly enjoyed Rian’s method of schooling those who felt disappointed by the ending to The Last Jedi. Check out the full thread below!
