Samsung Will Finally Unveil Their Foldable Smartphone This Year
1 min readAfter years of speculation, we could finally be getting close to seeing the foldable smartphone Samsung has been teasing. We first saw the phone in a concept ad all the way back in 2013, but nothing concrete since. Now, according to CNBC, we could finally see the foldable smartphone officially unveiled as early as this year. CNBC reports Samsung CEO DJ Koh alluded to Samsung potentially revealing the device during their annual developers conference in November.
Introducing a phone with a foldable screen will no doubt also bring varying new functionality along with it. We could be on the cusp of a device that truly ushers in the age of singularity, where we only need to carry one device for everything. If Samsung’s foldable phone looks anything like the device in the concept video, it’s entirely possible for this to happen. With Samsung Pay integration reaching new heights daily, we could also see a new service introduced by Samsung that acts as a single wallet, digitally storing not only cards, but possibly digital identification as well.
We’re still a long way from any of that happening though, as Samsung could reveal the phone in November, but it won’t be ready for purchase by then. Either way, it’s exciting to know that we’re only a few short months away from seeing what the next phase of Samsung’s Galaxy devices will look like.
